After a short illness Ed went to be with the angels peacefully on June 20, 2025 at the Lennox & Addington County General Hospital, Napanee at the age of 86.  Survived by his loving wife and sweetheart for 68 years, Marilyn (nee Hines), his children Richard, Wanda (Frisken), Allan, Kathy (McGuiness) and Patricia (Humphreys).  He was a grandfather and great grandfather and a special Pa to Matthew Humphreys and his family.  He is survived by many nieces and nephews.  Ed will be greatly missed by his fury baby Chole.  Son of the late Ken Sweet and Annie Hearns.  Predeceased by his siblings Ken, Wilbert, George, Sam, Paul, Estasia, Veronica, Judy and Sheila.  Ed joined the penitentiary service in 1967.  Pervious to that he worked with Carl Clark Machine and Welding.  Ed volunteered at numerous community functions including 20 years at Lennox & Addington Hospital, Napanee.  Ed and Marilyn travelled coast to coast and through Canada and the USA in their motorhome.  They travelled Europe and the British Isles for 4 weeks.  They lived their lives to the fullest always together.  Ed was an avid fisherman and camper.  Ed and Marilyn camped at Salmon Point Campground in Prince Edward County for 45 years.  Family and Friends will be received on Thursday, June 26, 2025 between the hours of 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.  Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025 in M.J. Smith & Son Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m.  Interment to follow in Deseronto Cemetery.  For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Lennox & Addington County General Hospital in Ed’s memory.
