I met Gary in the 1980’s when he moved into
Our community program from Prince Edward Heights. Gary was hard working and loved a good time. My best memories are when he lived with Sandra Rivers and Bobby Pennock on Union Street. We went camping and took lots of day trips together with the rest of the folks at our group home. Those were fun days and Gary never missed one that I can think of. RIP dear friend.

Boomer & I met on Sept 5, 1970, my first day of college placement on a ward in Smith's Falls, Rideau Regional Centre where he worked as a Ward Worker assisting the staff with everything from feeding the clients to changing diapers & bathing. We both moved to Picton at Prince Edward Heights where I started as a counsellor but soon got my Vocational Instructors course & started a lawn cutting program. Boomer was my first employee with his buddy, Bobby Pennock who had worked on the next ward in Smith's Falls so we knew each other. We worked at cutting lawns, raking leaves, picking tomatoes & apples to snow removal. We were busy all year round. Boomer continued on this program for almost 20 years & boy did we have a great time. He was one of my best & of course one of my favourites. He & Bobby got an apartment together & my house warming gift was a case of beer. The best gift they got!!! After we both retired we saw each other down street almost every day & had the horn honk & his regular greeting Ï had 3" with hands in the air & laughing!!! I looked forward to seeing him & now it's another void in my memories. I had 10 guys on my gang & there only a couple left. Goodbye Boomer, Enjoy your rest, you worked hard, cheers!!! Bruce Young

What would I like to say about my sweet loving Uncle Gary. First thing I've always noticed is how he loved me and everyone around him unconditionally. Second I would say he had an amazing ear for music and a genuine taste for beer. I will miss the jam sessions with him my dad and my brother. Uncle Gary you will forever have a giant place in my heart and will always be missed. Your loving nephew Cory Claus

Sad news, Gary was part of our daily lives .as he lived at our special building for 21 years. Fond memories of sitting on “Gary’s bench “ outside my shop in the Summer Evenings.
Rest In Peace my old friend
