Vincent Gioacchino Castellano

of Shannonville, Ontario

Passed away peacefully on May 19, 2023 in his 95th year under the diligent care of the staff at the John M. Parrott Centre in Napanee. Born on February 1, 1929 in Cannicatti, Sicily, he emigrated to Canada in 1949 to further his education at the urging of his family. Upon completing a B.A. at McMaster University, he went on to pursue a Master of Social Work at the University of Toronto, where he met his future wife, Marlene June Brant of Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory. He is survived by Marlene, their children Gaspare Vincent (Perry), Gregory, Daniel and Steven, grandchildren Joshua, Noah, Natasha, Madeleine, Brett, Julia and Raymond, and sister Carmella. He will be remembered by all for his fierce devotion to his family, unshakeable faith, keen intelligence and impish charm. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at All Saints Anglican Church, 1295 Ridge Road, Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, with refreshments preceding in the Parish Centre at 2:00 p.m. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the John M. Parrott Centre or Tyendinaga Mohawk Pentecostal Church.
