Please share a memory of Clarence to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Zieman, Clarence

Clarence Willard Frederick Zieman died on December 7th,,2023, in his 86th year, surrounded by loving family members in Belleville General Hospital following a very brief illness.  Born on August 30th, 1938, on a farm outside of Golden Lake, Ontario to Frederick and Flora Zieman (nee Roesler).  He was followed by his brothers Percy (Marie), Willard (Christina) both deceased and sisters Grace (Arnold, deceased), Jean (Harold), Ruth (Harvey) and Linda.

He married Noreen Burskey on Valentine’s day 1958 while living in Pembroke, Ontario.  Their first son Stephen died while an infant.  Next came Jamie (Angela). Shelley (deceased), Dale (Kathy) and Todd (deceased).  They had 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.  Unfortunately, Noreen passed in 2011, after all those years of marriage.

He fortunately meet Daryl Wager, who filled that void in his life with love again and who he married in Dec 2022.  Unfortunately, Daryl died on October 19, 2023.

Dad had many interests over the years, but he enjoyed the outdoors either at the camps, whether near Golden Lake or Denbigh or when taking annual week long fishing trips into Algonquin Park.

As a professional he worked his way from simply bookkeeper to getting a lifetime membership as a CPA while earning all the earlier version of the accounting accreditations. He advanced through several corporations during his rise In management ranks, one of which led him to move to Deseronto in 1968.

There he picked up the other major part of his life in community and civic duty. He led the team that got fundraising done for the Deseronto Community Center in the mid-70s that led to various levels of government funding including their support.

That experience led him to municipal politic in Deseronto and served for many decades as Mayor, Deputy Mayor, or Councilor.  As Mayor, he was elected as Warden of Hasting County, a role he greatly enjoyed and relished.

He was a man of words and actions plus loved meeting and talking with people.
