After a tremendous fight, we sadly announce the passing of our respected Elder and Warrior of the Longhouse on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute in his 65th year. Son of the late Gordon and Eleanor. Cherished husband and love of his life Charlene. Loving father of Douglas, Amy (Jason), Stepfather to Benji (Charity), O:tsire (Stacy) and Otsihsto. Treasured grandpa and papa to Milyn, Bexley, Jig, Kaylea, Ella, Ember, Clara, Sterling, Asha, Winnie, Hunter, Samantha, Mackenzie, Daylon and Kemper. Dear brother of Tim (Dorothy), Darlene, Yvonne and brother-in-law of Ruth. Predeceased by his brother Leslie, his sister Twyla and his brother-in-law Brian. Always remembered by his many Uncles, Aunts, Nephews, Nieces, Cousins, his ex-wife Sharon and countless Friends. Shawn’s thirst for knowledge and pride in keeping indigenous traditions alive was of great value to the community. His generosity and his ability to listen and share laughter with everyone he encountered will be deeply missed. Family and friends will be received from Tuesday, September 10, 2024 from 7:00a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Kenhteke Longhouse, 1344 Ridge Road, TMT. Light refreshments will follow the service at the Mohawk Community Centre, 1807 York Road, TMT. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to Kenhteke Longhouse or the Ottawa Heart Institute in memory of Shawn.
