Froste, Claire Alice Antoinette (Toni)

1923 -2024

Claire (Toni) lived an amazing life , of 101 years, passing from this life into eternal life, on October 6, 2024.  She was born the youngest of 4 siblings to Arthur and Marjorie Smith, in Port Hope.  She outlived all her siblings.  When WWII was over, 1945, she married her sweetheart Wilfred Froste, and their marriage brought son Arthur, now deceased, and daughter Heather.  They also adopted Barrie Millett from Norwood.

Through the years, Toni was very involved in scouting on many levels, Boys Scouts, Beavers, Cubs, being a leader.  She also became a Gillwellian, and was a trainer for the Woodbridge Course, marking international tests to approve future leaders.  She was the first women District Commissioner in Canada.  Then she got guiding going in Deseronto.  Having a heart for children, she volunteered at local library’s, reading to children, and at local schools doing remedial work with children.  Toni was very involved in her church, and in the choir.  She had a remarkable soprano voice.  She was honored to be a part of the Mohawk choir, thrilled to sing in the cathedral in Toronto with them.  She was an artist, loving painting with oil and canvas.  Toni was a poet, and was honored to have one of her poems published by the Poetry Guild.

Toni leaves behind her daughter Heather Froste, and son-in-law Charlie Bell, her granddaughter Gillian Dronyk (Shawn), granddaughter Jennifer Crowder and great granddaughter Maddie Dronyk.  Left behind are her chosen Mohawk grandchildren Nikki Auten and Sarah Brown and Joe Brown (predeceased).  As well as many in the generations following them.  She embraced this family, and their culture.  Also saddened are many nieces, great nieces, nephews and cousins.  She loved you all.  As well as an incredible number of precious friends.

Toni loved the Lord with a passion and zeal, she had such an abiding faith.  She was also a great prayer warrior.  When saying goodbye, she always ended saying “God Bless”, which was meant from her heart of sincerity.

Our heartfelt appreciation to Lennox & Addington Hospital in Napanee, Acute Care, for the amazing care and many kindness, and dear Dr. Robin.

God Bless you, all.
