Obituary of Linda Jean Maracle
September 13, 1947 – January 6, 2025
Linda Jean Maracle (nee Green) passed away peacefully and surrounded by many loved ones, the evening of Monday, January 6, 2025, and joyously returned to the Lord, at the young age of 77. Today we lost a wonderfully loving and devoted wife, a caring, compassionate and loving mother, an involved, supportive and thoughtful auntie, and a grandmother who both adored, and was adored in return by her 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was also a treasured friend to many.
She was a dear daughter to Hubert and Perle Green. Predeceased by loving husband, Ross William Maracle Sr., and brothers, David (aka “Elsie”) Green and Clifford Green. She will be sorrowfully missed by the families of their children, Rachel Volkmann, Rebecca and Eric Aschmann and Ross William Maracle II. She is survived by her sisters, Barbara Caverhill, Martha Green, Sharon Finley, and Laurie Green, as well as, her in-laws, Brant Maracle, Clifford Maracle, Thomas and Alison Maracle, Jonathan and Linda Maracle and David and Kimberly Maracle.
Linda was a strong and loving matriarch, grounded in her Christian beliefs which guided her in every task set before her, which she saw through to the best of her ability. Linda had a zest for life and loved travel but was mainly focused on projects aimed at improving the lives of those in need for which she seemed to have an endless amount of energy for. In her later years, her health forced her to slow down to more supportive roles but she never lost her desire to help when needed and kept her position as head of her family with beauty and grace.
Ross and Linda worked together to leave a legacy of service, helping to found the National Native Bible College for just under its first 2 decades. They reached out to people from coast to coast with the Spirit Alive TV Broadcast which is still broadcasting from Thunder Bay, Ontario. They were also dedicated to our young people with a drive to “discovering new trails” by acting as Founders of Ohahahse, a camp for youth. She was known as “Gammy” to all the camp kids, always with a kind word and hug and taught all kids the best way to eat a gummy bear amongst many other important lessons.
Linda treasured her time with her husband, Ross. She fell in love with him over and over throughout their 45 years of marriage – their relationship was a template for how to treat your true love and best friend. She was also a powerful glue in bringing and keeping family and friends together. A special thank you to everyone supporting our family through this difficult time. We are deeply moved and appreciate the outpouring of love and kindness.
Family and Friends will be received at M.J. Smith & Son Funeral Home, on Friday evening, January 10, 2025 from 6:00pm – 8:00 pm and on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. at the Deseronto Pentecostal Church 465 Dundas Street, Deseronto.
