Velma: what can I say? You were an inspiration to me and many others. When I was young, you were always asking me to join the Tyendinaga Native Women Association. Well, here I am, a member of the Association. Not only a member but on the board of directors. I am thoroughly enjoying my position and the sisterhood. My hope is that I do you justice. Miss you and I have the fondest memories of you. I think of you always.
Your sister,
Tina McDonald

To the family of the late and dear friend Velma. Velma and I became friends during the "Pathways to Success" era of employment and training days with the federal govt. I will cherish and hold the many hours spent on that initiative and her commitment she had for her people in tyendinaga. A real gem she was and wish her well on her journey. RIP Velma

My heart-felt condolences to the family. Velma and I worked together in the early 1990s developing and delivering training programs. We kept in touch after the Women's Access to Apprenticeship Project ended and I last spoke to Velma about a year ago. Truly a dynamic woman! May your memories of Velma be of comfort during this difficult time.

I remember Velma from the few years during which she served on the board for Hospice Quinte some of those years coincided with my service there. She was very interested in community and in serving her community to the best of her ability.

My memories of Velma, Skip, Bubbie and Gran and her other family members was their incredible warmth and loving acceptance. Velma and Skip were a great source of support during the time that I lived and worked in Tyendinaga. My son Hanwakan and I visited many times with them. Bubbie was a wonderful memory for Hanwakan for many years.
She was so proud of her grandchildren and I am sure they have great memories of her. Velma kept in touch for many years via holiday cards. I missed her very much when I moved away from Tyendinaga. Hanwakan missed Shannonville for many years due to the memories of a wonderful family we had the privilege to know.
My deepest condolences to you and your family, Holly. Sincerely, Wendy
