Obituary of John Stafford

Stafford, John Franklin Passed away Friday June 23rd, 2017 at the age of 93 at Village Green nursing home in Selby, Ontario. He is survived by his wife of 69 years Mary Eleanor Stafford (nee Root), sons and daughters Ruth Blamire (Mike), Don Stafford (Pat), Brian Stafford (Sharon), Brenda Molnar (Vic), and Clair Stafford. John (Jack) and Mary have nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was the son of the late Roy and Lela Stafford and had four siblings, the late Aileen Haviland of Brantford, Mary Marriott of Kingston, Shirley Hill of Peterborough, and Jim Stafford of Napanee. Jack was born in the Selby area and spent all of his years there. He will be remembered for his love of the fiddle, and rarely passed on the opportunity for a game of pool. Farming was the life he chose, and he always showed a great sense of stewardship towards the land. Visitation will take place at McGlade Funeral Home in Deseronto, Ontario on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 between the hours of 2:00 – 4:00 & 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. The burial service will follow at the Lonsdale cemetery, with a lunch to follow at the Lonsdale school.
